The Big Electric Chair

Sorry for not keeping up my blog as ive had a massive influx of work from all sides.

Just wanted to talk about a project I want to do, called The Big Electric Chair, its a music/art project, I've mostly worked with other peoples musical projects without having one of my own, meaning I dont get to play alot of stuff that I want to truly play, what I see myself playing, y'know? The music would be hard to explain, like progressive jazz metal, similar to alot of Les Claypools work, similar is sense of not exactly sound, but genre? It will also be an art project, making video's to go with the songs and artwork. I've written some songs, mostly bass guitar stuff and some drum beats.

I'm currently looking for another bassist, a drummer and a custom percussionist, maybe a singer, would be nice if any of the above can sing a bit, but it wont be singing, more like talking.

I will be trying to get this project up and running during Decemeber, I'll also be building a Whamola which i'll make some blog posts on so you might look forward to that, Ill post instructions of building your own and hopefully some videos and stuff.

I was on the train today, going to uni like any other day then I spotted a guy with a guitar and metal thing going on, he was lead vocals guitarist and synth player for this band called Cypher16, no to get confused with Cypher(core) which is another band. So I'm leaving a link to their myspace, check it out, its pretty good.

Painting With Acrylics

I saved up £7.99 and got some canvas from fielders in wimbledon. Gave myself 1 hour with a piece of charcoal and some acrylic paints with after seeing some Arthur Rackham Illustrations and this is what i came up with. Took a quick picture with my webcam and the bright areas just come out as pure white so I will take a picture in the day time and hopefully get some better lighting with a better camera.

Self Portrait

did a quick self portrait in photoshop, about 15-20 minutes, from a mirror and made it slightly stylized to make it quicker to do.

There is a new series to the BBC called Renaissance Revolution, if you like art illustration or history is a great one to keep an eye on, the first episode is on Raphael (if you at university with me then thats the guy who did school of athens which the lecturer showed us in visual language on the first day) very educational and you learn a bit about composition and is a must watch if your interested in art.

Photo Montage

Well in an assignment from a uni module i was give the options to either create a surreal photo montage or do 8 drawings of several objects and see which angle is best for this object and why, I had alot on my plate so i did the photo montage, I dont really approve the message but it looks kinda cool

*Edit*

Some people have asked me what the message is exactly, well its about the use of religion to justify violence. now you know that, have a look and see what else it means to you... love to hear your thoughts!

The Web Family #1

A cartoon strip about a family but... their son is a giant spider... Was thing about doing Flies at the Office along with it showing Mr. Web at work, but his co-workers will be flies... kinda weird I know but great set up for some insect jokes and maybe office and family jokes made even funnier since they are all freakishly large insects and arachnids...

Edit: I am going to give it more narrative and work more on the character design, by Monday there should be an art bible and script posted here or at least a sneaky peak ^^

Thanks for all your feedback guys

Naughty Bear

I got a treat for all you out there in internet land, a game you probably not heard of called Naught Bear, and I must say its an amazing game! What is more fun than running around an island killing off cuddly bears one by one!

Its amazing and I would recommend that all of you try it now!

On another note I thought I should post a video of a trailer I worked on during college at South Thames college with Bradley and Daniel. It was for a competition to go see a studio in Soho which we went to go see (since we won :D ), they had graphics tablet the size of tables and processors the size of beds!

I still have the original concept art and storyboards lying around for this in my room. It was great fun and I wish we could do it again :D.

TVU

I have just started at my new university in Ealing, Thames Valley University, its pretty sweet comparing to my old one, there is a book shop inside!? only wish they sold graphic novels and I would be set for the next three years xD!

I bought this Comic that Ashley Woods did the cover art for called Zombies vs Robots, sounds awesome and it is awesome! The first issue has like 3 stories inside it, the last story which is done by Gabriel Hernandez and the artwork was amazing! So I went to have a look around on the internet and found his blog and I did a quick study of a picture of an old lady he did.

Tim the man

Me and Tim decided after a really long time to start drawing together xD well on msn and using photoshop. We both say a word and stick them together and try to draw the first thing that comes into our minds, and then show each other the image and get some feedback so I thought ill post my favourite two images, one from me and one from Tim.

This one was done by Tim, the two words were powerful panda, and he did a really nice one too! "its actually a guy in a panda costume" says Tim on msn before I make the post ^^.

Photobucket

And here my favourite one I did, the two words was element catcher.

Time to do some more drawing with Tim and ill keep you guys posted ^^

Eid Mubarak Everyone!

Happy Eid! well its 3:34am but its still Eid! And I'm here with my post, some studies and a little video for you guys to watch. I continued with my studies, working on my poses rather than style on Ashley wood so these images may not be nice to look at but there great for getting the pose down for drawings. But first! I want to show you a video on basically the only game I play as a games dev student... Heroes of Newerth!

Its a Great game, its a DBG (Dota based game) Dota being defence of the ancients which was a very successful mod for Warcraft 3, where you control one hero (well some heroes have minions) and the objective is to destroy the enemies sacrificial shrine or world tree while defending your own, its a very tactical game which involves a lot of teamwork and is very social for that! Its best played with friends so they are doing a trial period for anyone interested, people who have an account can give a trial code to 2 of there friends to have 10 free matches! That's around 5-10 hours of game play, sounds bad but it gives you a good taste of the game. Also, the game doesn't have any monthly fees! And its quiet cheap comparing to the games on the high street.

Oh I'll post another image of something from my portfolio with it just to make this post less bare!

Photobucket

That's the study and here is the image from my portfolio.

Photobucket

I know he is tilt way to the left but I drew this when I was in my 2nd year at college, like 1st semester, it was for the year project I was doing with Bradley Austin! We had a finished trailer and a game idea with art and 3d models and everything by the end, if you haven't seen the trailer you can find it on my portfolio in the about section!

HAPPY EID!

Hello World!

Hello World! First post just to get things started, I'm doing this to make sure I do get some drawings done and keep it up, so yeah, this will be like my digital sketchbook... yeah... sounds good, lets hope I keep up my end of the bargain! So lets start it off with some stuff!

Photobucket

This is a study I did on one of my favourite artists, Ashley Wood, It was a quick digital sketch in Photo shop, I don't like the brush I was using so I have decided to re do it in ink! and try to fix my scanner... and wait for my new ink pen to arrive... so yeah that might be awhile...
